It’s Animal Flow. But what on earth is that was the question I was asking when I saw it pop up on my Facebook recently. So I went along to a workshop to find out.
Diderik Dellebeke is a Movement Expert and Physical Therapist whose mission with Animal Flow is to get people moving to their full potential, whether you’re a beginner to exercise, or a seasoned athlete. He describes Animal Flow as a movement form rather than a workout.
But you’ll definitely get a workout, for both your body and your mind.
“It’s actually very versatile. It can be used as a workout, a dynamic meditation, an active break, or a tension release strategy.”
In the workshop, we learned some basic movements, like static beast and crab! Not only was it a lot of fun, but without really thinking about it, we were also working on balance, co-ordination, strength, endurance and mobility. Diderik described it as play time for adults – and it really felt like that.
“Animal Flow will help you gain a better understanding of your body, and you can do it almost any time, anywhere. You only need your body, nothing more.”
