One Month Sports launched in Eindhoven on 1 September and I was lucky enough to try it out.
What is One Month Sports?
It’s a card that allows you to try out a bunch of different sports. The card costs €19.95 and, as the name suggests, it is valid for one month. You don’t pay anything else during your one month period and it is a one-off charge. All the sports clubs will welcome you for free for at least one, but often a couple of trial sessions. When the month is up, you can then decide which sport suits you best, and if you want, sign up directly with the club.
What kinds of clubs can you visit?
There is a really good range – yoga, personal training, rugby, boxing, bootcamps, and ice skating, to name a few. The clubs are spread out all over Eindhoven and Veldhoven as well, so wherever you live, work, or study, there are a lot of sports you can try. It’s really up to you how many different things you want to try out in the month, but I’d suggest setting aside at least two or three times a week to make the most of it.
My experience – the nitty gritty!
First, I had a look through the map on the One Month Sports website and chose the sports I wanted to try – these included Personal Training, Yoga, Kickboxing, Bootcamp, and Hot Yoga. When you click on a club, you will see how many free lessons you can have, as well as links to their websites, and email addresses. I looked through the clubs’ schedules then contacted them directly and asked if I could join on certain days / times with my One Months Sports card. Every club I had contact with was really responsive, welcoming, and friendly. And I had some fantastic workouts – just look at the photo for sweaty proof! Overall, everything was hassle free and easy to arrange.
A great idea!
It’s one of those things that I wish I had come up with! But as a user of the card, I really recommend it. There’s a great range of sports to try and the cost won’t break the bank. You can also see just how many fun sports there are here, and you will meet some fantastic people along the way. And this is something that I, as an international and a lover of trying out new things, can’t speak highly enough of.
